Salford Matt! Is that the only place in the north you softy southerners know? There’s a political hotbed otherwise know as Liverpool a few miles up the road, you should try it, you’d go down well I think. Salford!…..
Ha! Well it helps to be near my Salford 5Live colleagues. And I think Newcastle probably counts as the north too… tried to cover as much of the country as I could in two weeks…
Kudos for responding Matt thanks, I enjoyed your time on Times Radio and am really glad someone just as good finally replaced Emma Barnet who was my favourite in an otherwise fairly anodyne 5 Live these days. Times radio is much the poorer for losing yourself and Mariella too, I no longer tune in as a result. Politics requires a certain level of humour to report engagingly and you mix that with a sharp antenna very well.
I will definitely try and get to see you in Salford and yes Newcastle is also in the north but it often seems like the token couple of places in a lot of tours which are very south of England (or below Birmingham) orientated. You know your market I guess…and yes two weeks is no time at all.

Canterbury looks good to me
